Description
Trained as a biologist, Simone P. Niclou earned a PhD at the Friedrich-Miescher Institute in Switzerland and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the United States and the Netherlands. In 2005 she joined the Luxembourg Institute of Health (then CRP-Santé) to establish research on brain cancer and became director of its Department of Cancer Research, with a strong involvement in people management, institutional strategies and policies. At the scientific level, she has made major contributions to glioma research, recognized by academic and private partners worldwide. In 2014, she was nominated adjunct professor at the University of Bergen in Norway, where she maintained a highly productive research cooperation. Dr. Niclou also served as President of the Laboratoire national de santé from 2015-2019. In 2023, she was appointed Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Luxembourg, where she is also responsible for the medical and health portfolio in research and education.
