Description
Professor Laurence Bernard has been a full professor at the University of Luxembourg since October 1, 2022. She completed a nursing technique program in Montreal in 2001, a bachelor's degree in nursing science in Montreal in 2004, a master's degree in nursing science in Montreal in 2006, and a doctoral degree in nursing science in Montreal in 2012. She conducted a postdoctoral internship in nursing science as a Fellow of the Nursing Collaborative at McGill University's Ingram School of Nursing in Canada in 2016. Professor Bernard has taught for 18 years at various Canadian universities, including 10 years as a professor at the University of Montreal. To date, various Canadian funding agencies have supported Professor Bernard's research, such as the Robert-Sauvé Institute for Health and Safety at Work in Quebec, the Research Network on Nursing Intervention in Quebec, and the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator in the fields of pandemic management, biological risk, occupational health and safety, and the development of nursing professional skills. Her research interests include pandemics, patient safety, and risk management in the context of infection prevention (hospital hygiene) within healthcare facilities. She is also interested in the academic and continuing education of nurses in infection prevention and a collaborative safety culture. She is a member of three research networks and two communities of practice.
