Description
The healthcare sector faces major challenges: an aging population, a surge in care demand due to increasing multimorbidity, a tightening labor market, and the emergence of costly innovations. As a result, the accessibility and affordability of care are under strain. There is a pressing need for an adequate number of well-trained physicians who are prepared to meet these challenges. Key training aspects include themes like prevention, promoting healthy lifestyles, embracing innovations, and adapting to technical and organizational advancements. Collaboration is also a central focus, involving shared decision-making with patients, cooperation among healthcare professionals, and embracing lifelong learning principles. In her presentation, Marjolein van de Pol will discuss the future challenges in healthcare and their connection to developing a physician education program that is resilient and tailored to Luxembourg's healthcare system and population structure.
